چکیده

The Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC) is an engineering marvel. AGC performed all of the necessary computation to successfully guide, navigate, and control spacecraft, which carried Neil Armstrong Buzz Aldrin surface moon back in 1969 as part 11 mission. Weighing at a staggering 32 kg featuring blazing-fast 2.048-MHz clock, it was first computer use silicon integrated circuits (ICs). Mankind has made great strides advances both regards space exploration well technology since its debut. In light those successes this year being 50th anniversary microprocessor, only fitting that be celebrated.

Horizons in Guidance Computer Component Technology

An extensive survey of logic and memory component manufacturers conducted by the NASA Electronic Research Center and the industry has resulted in estimates of the state-of-the-art of components available to designers of on-board guidance and control computers for long-term deep-space missions for the 1970-72 period. The vehicle for the survey were the mission requirements for the synchronous sa...

Computer Vision Guidance in Medical Applications

Computer vision techniques for tracking real objects, surgical tools, patient’s organs are been integrated in the medical scenarios. We present a marker-based approach followed by a rigid registration to align real and virtual objects. The case study is a maxillofacial surgery and the method provides virtual and augmented aid to the surgeon while s/he is performing the osteotomy task.

Guide to the Apollo Collection

The Saturn C-1 Heavy space vehicle will be launched experimentally this fall for the first time. In this first firing of the three stage rocket, only the booster will be "live" and it will be operating at a thrust somewhat lower (12%) than that planned for later Saturns Series 5 High Water Project

The Bidirectional Reflectance of Apollo

Introduction: Accurate models of the lunar thermal and illumination environment require a realistic treatment of scattered radiation at high incidence and emission angles. It has long been appreciated that the bidirectional reflectance of lunar soil is anisotropic [1], yet most lunar thermal models still assume that scattered radiation is isotropic. We recently measured the bidirectional reflec...
